Origin and education
Ewan McGregor was born in 1971 in Scotland, His father and mother both taught at Crieff High School, and he has an older brother, Colin, who served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force. He has an actor uncle and an actress aunt. Ewan McGregor attended Morrison Academy, a private school in central Scotland, but left when he was sixteen and worked as a stage assistant at the Perth Playhouse. He then studied drama at Kirkcaldy College, before moving on to study drama at the age of eighteen at the Guildhall School of Drama and Music in London.
The beginning of his artistic career

Ewan McGregor was married twice, to a French Jewish production designer named Eve Mavrakis, and had four daughters with her, but two of them were adopted, and one was a homeless child on the streets that he took in, and he divorced Eve in 2018, and at the time he was in a relationship with the American actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, then he married her in 2022 and they already had a son at the time named Laurie.
Ewan McGregor was more inclined towards the Jewish religion, because of his wife Eve and her raising of her children according to this religion, although he was a Christian, he was very far from his original religion.
Ewan McGregor supports the English football team Manchester City, and was a heavy drinker until he decided to give it up in 2000 due to his deteriorating health. He also became a naturalized American citizen in 2016. He was very upset about Britain's exit from the European Union, and therefore supported the independence of his home country Scotland from England because of that.
