The Pursuit of Happyness Movie Review

The Pursuit of Happyness is a true epic, a struggle, and a race against life.

In my opinion, it is one of the greatest drama movies of all time, as it gives us incredible positive energy and inspires us to work hard with effort and determination until we achieve our goals. Not only that, but it also teaches you to persevere for your family, regardless of the challenges and circumstances you face.

Actually, there aren't enough words to describe this movie because its events depict the saga of life, the conflicts within it, and the enormous challenges a person might face to reach their goals. Still, we will try to elaborate on the film's details and storyline. This movie will evoke all your feelings from your heart and make you live alongside Will Smith or Christopher Gardner as if you were them.

This was a brief introduction to the film, and now let's discuss the events more clearly and in greater detail.

The Pursuit of Happyness

The character's phenomenal performance

Will Smith's performance merits extensive discussion and ranks among the greatest in cinema history, possibly even the best of all time. Playing a real person and depicting actual events is challenging; performances can often come off as stiff, monotonous, or exaggerated. However, here, the performance was perfectly balanced, neither falling short nor exceeding expectations, making it truly outstanding.

He captured every aspect of the character in his most miserable and difficult moments, as well as in his moments of happiness, to such an extent that I rewatched some scenes once or twice just to savor them.

The story is filled with sadness, despair, and human helplessness, but the enjoyment came from Will Smith's skillful blending of these emotions, creating scenes that are deeply memorable and never fade.

Finally, happyness comes after hardship and struggle, and this was shown in a very exceptional scene that made him stand out above everyone else, as he congratulated himself on his determination to go all the way, and on realizing how right he was to do so.

There are many enjoyable scenes in this movie, and we will definitely discuss them, as well as identify the best master scenes of The Pursuit of Happyness together.

Let's dive deep

Take a few moments to consider what happyness means to you.

Moneypeace of mind, a close-knit family, and success at work are all reasons that lead you to happiness, and they are interconnected and complement each other. If you lose one of these, you might lose the others in turn. Life only gives happiness to those who fight for it, and here lies the human will—his steadfastness in enduring all circumstances to achieve happiness, and his belief in his ability to do so without surrendering to despair.

Therefore, Chris Gardner fought to achieve all of these things because he knew that losing any one of them was like losing his life. Strangely, life relentlessly pounded him; every situation delivered a blow that threw him off balance. But even more remarkable was that he never fell. He stayed strong until the end of the fight and won decisively.

The most beautiful part of his struggle was having his son with him. Despite his own pain, he didn't let anything show or affect him. Instead, he inspired his son with the spirit of fighting, victory, and resilience. This makes sense because he was acting as a father should. But what’s illogical is that, amidst life's chaos and challenges, he was passing on these deep and wonderful lessons to his son.

What's also remarkable about his pursuit of happyness is his relationship with his superiors. He never allowed them to see his vulnerabilities or the problems that seemed to be piling up on him from every side. It's truly incredibly difficult for anyone to leave their feelings and frustrations outside of work and maintain focus and a smile in front of their bosses.

Ask yourself this: Is it possible to excel and outshine your peers in tough or nearly impossible circumstances? Can you perform in an environment filled with all kinds of frustration?

When trying to answer this, you must first honestly examine your own personality and truly see who you are. Only then can you respond with complete transparency.

Completed work

In my opinion, The Pursuit of Happyness is a complete film, full of excitement, emotion, struggle, success, and life's setbacks. It brilliantly showcases the true brilliance of the character, blurring the lines between reality and the fantasy he embodies. The two characters are so perfectly aligned that some might even believe the fictional character surpasses the real one, captivating everyone with his emotions and subtle nuances, and inspiring the emotions of the entire world.

The stunning cinematography and direction excelled at capturing every moment of Will Smith's emotions, displaying them on screen in perfect harmony. The sets and costumes were just as impressive, effectively illustrating the character's poverty and hardship.

The supporting actors delivered outstanding performances, as if they drew inspiration from Will Smith himself. Their roles were crucial in illustrating the psychological impact each had on Chris Gardner's character.

The key message all humans should understand is that if you want to succeed, you must have experienced failure and the challenges life throws at you, because they will be the strongest motivation for you to lift yourself from the fall to reach the top.
